VOLUNTEER AT HMA
The Huntington Museum of Art is alive and well today because of the wonderful work done by volunteers since we opened the doors to the Museum in 1952. If you are interested in volunteering, call (304) 529-2701.
HMA currently has the following opportunities available:
Volunteer Activity
Docent Program: A docent is a trained volunteer who leads tours of the Museum for groups of children and adults. No prior formal training or experience is needed; no particular background in art is required; and all ages are welcome. The Docent Program at HMA offers the opportunity to learn about other cultures, historical periods, artwork and artists. Docents attend weekly training from September through May every Monday. This training may include attending gallery walks with HMA curators, training in touring techniques from the Education staff, going on field trips to area museums and attending demonstrations by visiting artists. Volunteers must be prepared to make a year-long commitment to attend training and lead tours.
Time Commitment
9:30-11:30 a.m. every Monday during the school year for training; expect to give a minimum of one tour per week during the school year.
